What is observational drawing?

Objective
To produce a sheet of observational drawings of natural forms.

What is observational drawing? This is when you draw an object in front of you, not from a secondary source like a photograph, and draw exactly what you see without changing anything. Observational drawing appears less flat than drawing from a secondary source. You cannot do observational drawing unless the object is in front of you.

TaskUsing the natural objects (shells, leaves etc) draw a selection on your A3 sheet.
don't be afraid of making mistakes - just redo.
concentrate on the lines, marks and dots to begin with. There will be a variety, try to as many as you can. Each natural thing is different.
draw in a variety of sizes.
